On A Day Like Today: Camarasa opens his scoring account
On April 7th, 1991, Paco Camarasa scored his first official goal for Valencia CF. Not the most prolific marksman over the course of his 12 seasons in the first team, with a total of 8 strikes, he was more renowned for his defensive capabilities. That made the goal even more worthy of a special celebration.

Playing against Real Oviedo, Camarasa's goal came about through sheer persistence. A corner from the right hand side would be cleared initially by Viti. After several ricochets off Arroyo and Toni ‘Lambada’, the ball would be sent back into the heart of the area for Camaraso to stab it home with his right foot. The goal put Valencia CF ahead at home, in a game that saw him have another chance from a header at the start of the second half.
The points were eventually shared in the league draw with the Asturians.
When the ball crossed the line, Camarasa was swamped effusively by his teammates. The real celebration happened hours after the game, however, as his friends from the town of Rafelbuñol welcomed him back in style.
Camarasa would go on to help Valencia CF win the 1999 Copa del Rey, and currently works as first team delegate for the club. There, he is accompanied by some of his former teammates in different departments: Ochotorena, Voro, Zurdi, Arias, Arroyo and Bossio.
